Diabetic

We like to see our diabetic patients on a regular basis to help them manage their own disease well.  Dr Hogben, Dr Cripps and Sister Garratt look after our diabetic patients. Patients are sent letters to remind them when to book their diabetic appointments.

Asthma

We suggest that asthmatic patients should have annual asthma checks which need to be booked with Sister Jones.

Maternity Care

This is provided in conjunction with the midwives and hospital doctors of The Yeovil Women’s Hospital (East Somerset NHS Trust). The Oak team are responsible for our patients. They can be contacted at Yeovil Hospital on 01935 384350.

Baby Clinic

Baby Clinics are held at the following venues from Monday 16th April 2012. You can attend any clinic, but please bring along the childs Red Record book along with you.

Monday's 12.30-2.00pm at Oaklands Children's Centre - Preston Grove Yeovil

Tuesday's 9.15-11.00am at Birchfield Children's Centre - Birchfield Road Yeovil

Wednesday's 1.00- 3.00pm at Oaklands Children's Centre - Preston Grove Yeovil

Thursday's 2.00-4.00pm at Reckleford Children's Centre - Eastland Road Yeovil

Health vistors will be present at these clinics for you to discuss any worries or concerns you may have.

Child Health Surveillance

When your child is due any immunisations you will be notified by the Somerset Health Authority, who will advise you to make an appointment to see one of the nurses. The doctors like to see your child to do a pre-school check, which coincides with their pre-school injections.

Contraceptive Advice

We are pleased to advise patients concerning contraception.  Please make an appointment with Sister Garratt for contraceptive advice.

Minor Surgery

Certain types of minor operations are available within the surgery.  These include joint injections, removal of small skin lumps, freeze treatment for warts etc.  Please make an appointment with one of the doctors for advice.

Cervical Smears

We recommend testing every three years for ages between 25 –49 and every five years between 50-64.  Please make an appointment to see Sister Garratt.

C-Card Scheme

This service is available at the practice.  The Nurses will be pleased to see you, in confidence, for a chat about any health issue that concerns you. 

Chlamydia Screening

Patients under the age of 25 can pick up a self testing kit from the surgery.

Private Medical Services

Examinations and certificates can be arranged for a private fee

Physiotherapy

A physiotherapist at Bartec sees patients weekly to treat those that are referred by the doctor.

Dietician

The dietician attends the surgery once a month.

Test Results

Patients can ring the surgery to find out their test results, the receptionist will advise the patient whether the result is normal or if the patient needs to make an appointment to speak to the doctor.

Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.

When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.

It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

The results of a cervical smear test will be posted to you directly and should be with you within two weeks of the test being done.
